Cracks in the UT Faithfull?

When Lang testified for the Government against LY he was telling the truth. Now he's making this up. We have precisely the same dilemma that Gallion has. When he says something bad about UT he has zero character; when he testifies against Bama, he's telling the God's honest truth.

Recall Lang's testimony at the trial. He downplayed UT's involvement then - no names; no details. Why? I would suggest that Godwin advised him to do so. The more this thing looked like an open bidding war involving 6 SEC schools - the schools which naturally recruited Memphis due to geography - the more truth Bama's PR defense had.

If the jury believed everybody does it, and Bama just outbid the others, it doesn't look like Bama was the only slave-trader in Memphis. They were merely one of 6 SEC schools, and Bama won this round.

I have to believe that Logan Young thought he was in a bidding war. Otherwise, how did the price get so damn high? Is Lang that smart - smart enough to hoodoo Young in his own town? I too doubt the $60K to Means story. I thought he had told Kirk it was $20K. But who knows. Momma Means was and is denying everything.

I am prepared to believe that Pat Washington tested the waters, and that he lied to Coach Fulmer about it. As many have pointed out, why would Fulmer go after Bama over Means if he knew UT was involved? But I fear that is our best case scenario.

OTOH - if PW offered $50K, and then offered $75K, doesn't it stand to reason that he thought he could get the money from some source? He certainly was not going to get it out of his salary which was around $100K at the time. Was he acting "under-cover" to establish that Lang was selling Means? Come on now. Wear a wire - have a witness. Pat Washington - Tennessee's secret agent man! Nonsense.

Like I said, I'll wait and I'll watch how this plays out. But I fear UT will come out looking like the biggest hypocrites in college football. The NCAA may do nothing due to the statute of limitations, but the press will massacre UT. I'd suggest we wear hats because it may be coming down heavy real soon."
