I had the opportunity to speak to some sources in T-Town this morning who shared some of what I call “juicy” info. Some of this may not be enlightening to you guy, but for a slow summer day I think some of it will welcomed to you info starved guys, so lets get going.

--I noticed Rodney’s report yesterday about the freshmen who may play. I thought it sounded pretty close to what I was thinking but now I wouldn’t be surprised if a few more guys play that originally looked like sure Redshirts. Two of the sources believe that Cory Reamer and Zach Schreiber will probably be on Special Teams at least early in the season and both could be seeing some time on defense. One source said Joe Kines likes Schreiber at the SAM linebacker but there is also a chance he could be tried at middle linebacker too as well as a pass rushing defensive end. Schreiber is about 6’1 maybe a tad taller and he weighed in recently at 226 pounds and he said he runs a consistent 4.65. Reamer is very close to 6’4 and he’s 205 pounds with a frame to carry a lot more weight.

--Schreiber collected five sacks in a High School game against Hoover. Not one of those sacks came when he lined up against Bryan Morgan. My source said Schreiber thought Morgan was one of the best offensive linemen he had faced in High School. It will be interesting to see if we eventually offer Morgan as maybe a grayshirt.

--The most surprising thing in my conversation was what the sources said about Chris Keys. They said he is a bad, bad dude. They said he reminded them of former Bama linebacker Andre Royal from the standpoint that everyone in the freshman class already knows who the meanest freshman is. However, that is not what surprised me. What surprised was they said Keys weighed in at 237 pounds recently. They said he is solid too. Another source told me that Keys isn’t in perfect condition yet and that he’s had some trouble with the running in Kent Johnston’s program, which multiple sources said is a “brutal” program.

--Both of my sources said Roy Upchurch and Ali Sharrief have passed the test in shorts and t-shirts. One source said Darby is very high on Upchurch. DBTide may be able to add something on this.

--A lot of the veteran players think the two most impressive freshmen so far have been Jimmy Johns and Upchurch.

--Of all the freshmen Sam Burnthall hasn’t gotten a lot of attention but my sources said he is a tough dude. They said his demeanor gives the impression he’s got a nasty streak.

--Also I was told Offensive Tackle Mike Johnson has been the best offensive lineman in the running. He also comes across has having a nasty streak.

--One source compared Bobby Greenwood to a young Jeremy Nunley. The source said Greenwood is tall and thin a lot like Nunley was his freshman year. The source Greenwood runs Very well but he needs to get bigger.

--A lot of sources believe Travis Sikes will be better suited at wr than safety. I’ll trust the staff wherever they out him.

--A prominent High School coach in Alabama said not to be surprised if Alabama jumps in and offers Hoover wr Cornelius Williams in the fall. He said Williams is just now starting to come into his own which was seen in the recent 7-on-7 tournament in Hoover.

--John Parker Wilson weighed 223 recently. Brodie weighed 212.
As Always, I Hope This Helps

--The sources I spoke to talked with several of the Defensive Backs who told them Keith Brown and D.J. Hall look the part and are good players but the MAN is Tyrone Prothro. They said put TP at midfield surrounded by 50 other players and it would take someone 10 minutes to lay a hand on him.

--Another one I forgot was they said Zeke Knight is a stud physically. He is a freak who is physical and can go up and get the ball. If he gets the offense down and where he's supposed to be lined up at all times he could be a major player.
