A great Post by alcrTIDE

This is from reading all the coaches comments by Dave Rader, Joe Kines and Dave Ungerer:
-- QB Adam Trath was not invited to be part of the 105. It looks like the plan is to have JPW and Guillon battle for #2 & 3 spots and redshirt Johns and Barnes. Not enough reps to go more than three deep. That is, if Mark Guillon's back holds up. Guillon is reportedly healthy again, but nobody knows if his back will hold up until he starts throwing.
-- Walk-on MLB Matt Collins has dropped 25 lbs (to about 230 lbs) to add quickness and mobility. Kines raves about him as a hitter and about his toughness. Looks like young Mr. Collins wants to play.
-- Looks like two of the frosh RB's will be counted on for depth behind Darby, much as true frosh RB's Bobby Humphrey and Gene Jelks did for Bama in 1985.
-- Players mentioned as having great off-seasons are:1) FB Le'Ron McLain2) DB Jeffrey Dukes3) OLB Marcel Stamps
-- We're healthier going into fall camp than we have been in the three seasons a Mike Shula team has entered fall camp. We have more players, more depth and more experience.
-- Jeremy Schatz and Matt Miller will battle for the kick holder spot with both the Jimmy QB's (Johns and Barnes) being looked at.
-- Tyron Prothro is THE MAN and will return punts and kick-offs, catch passes and sell popcorn and sodas.
-- Look for Byron Walton and Zo Washington to battle for playing time at DT. I doubt either one will redshirt.
-- Beyond the starting seven At DB and LB just about everybody is playing to win the #2 spots. Our starters are that good.
Can't wait until Tuesday.

*Next week can’t get here soon enough.
If you think we are itchy and jumpy, you should talk to some of the players. Some are “ready to run out in traffic and punch trucks.”
*Many are holding on to their frustration of the last couple of seasons. They will use it to push themselves and each other.
*Some of the rooks are driving the vets crazy asking questions about next week. They really don’t know what to expect.
*Ryans is starting to step up big time as a defensive leader.
*KD ran against resistance for the first time this week. He said that it felt normal and he feels strong.
*Greenwood is busting his butt. He is catching the eye of a lot of vets.
*Huber is working hard to learn every position on the field.
*Britt is still considered the meanest on the team. Said the always looks like he is about to fight or just has been in one. (Except when his GF comes around)
*JPW’s mechanics look great. But still struggling a little learning to read the D. But to be honest, experience is by far the best teacher in that area.
*Sharrief and Upchurch are working hard to learn the blocks and things you do without the ball. Right now, Coffee just wants to tote the pig. He’ll learn.
*What to do without the ball is also something young QBs have a hard time learning.
*There has been some sweat of 40 times by DL. For a DE, a 40 time is a good indicator. But for a DT, it really doesn’t tell much. The 5-10 yard explosion and the shuttle run are much more important for the interior guys. Especially in our defensive scheme.
*For the Huntsville crowd, Briarwood and Minor will both be playing in Huntsville this season. Isn’t Bama looking at some guys from both teams?
*I wish I could be around for DB practice this year. The competition should be fun to watch.
*I still worry about the OL. But I wouldn’t let my concern influence you. I would be worried about the OL if we were returning 5 first team All Americans.**g**
