Curtis Dawson Update
A new update on Curtis Dawson.

Thanks for
by bamapower
He is in his 3rd Cycle with me and he weighs 286 +15 as of Sunday but fluctuates depending when he ate last. And it is not a fat 286.I will let some of those who see him out and have not seen him in awhile tell you if any difference.
It is amazing what a steady diet of heavy steel in a planned program does to a athlete in a short period of time. He lifts 4 days a week and runs 2-3 days. Does AB work 6 days a week and eats a lot.My goal is 290 of muscle for him which I hope the coaches will approve. He said he was the fastest DL at Bama, before this last class came in so I hope he holds this. He should be faster by a little. When I look at Bama DL it would be my opinion nobody on the DL can match him in the weight room right now, and he is just in 16th week of 24 weeks planned with next two very important to another boost.
Four weeks ago he BP 415 +65 in 12 weeks, and squatted about 675-700 (900 on squat machine- safer).
Demeco Ryans a former trainee of mine and the season he is having, has been a big motivator to him and so far he has not missed any workouts in a week. He wants to be the blow up guy next year as a RS Soph and from a DL position which I tell him would be even more impressive without a running start in most cases.
Pray for his classroom and off field habits is what he needs- he is a very social kid. His Dad and I are doing all the counseling and guidance we can. He knows he would disappoint us greatly and frankly I think he will do fine.
He loves Bama and hates Auburn- you should have heard him Sat at the gym. He Benched Sat. 3x5 with what he maxed one rep at 15 weeks ago.

I got this in my email about a week ago. Things have just now slowed down enough to get it posted.
Curtis Dawson update from BAMApower
Curtis is doing very well on most all his lifts- weighs 280(+10) 6-2 and trying to get to a lean 290 by Jan 1. Does crunches 6 days a week.. Runs 2 days. He looks totally different. After 3 mos - 12 weeks of Trainig in weight room 4 days a week (1Hr)I maxed him out this past week:BP 350 max went to 415 Max.
IBP 300 max went to 365 Max
Squat done on a Squat machine due to his sensitive back= 550 prior Max went to 950lbs on machine equal to about 675-700lbs on a Bar. Some say more.
Hang Clean- 295 previous, maxed at 330lbs now. The only disappointing lift to me. He hates these.
He is now curling seated 4x8 with 65's DB and doing 3x8 dips with two 45's hanging, exactly where Saleem was at same time frame. He leg curls 3x10 with 200 lbs. All except one of his numbers have moved up rapidly except the HC. We will bear down on this one a little more next two cycles.
Neat thing is we are only half way through the plan to 12-31. Will try and coach him through one more 6 weeks before Spring Training to have him tip top ready.
This has turned into a real blessing for Curtis- he desparately needed it and CMS done him a favor and Curtis would tell you that. Goes to church with me occasionally, and his Dad has a foot on him all the time..
Yes he is most likely returning for Spring quarter to hone his DT skills that he is still learning being a converted LB. Goal is to BP 450+ (465 likely) and squat 700+ and be a freaky strong DT as a RS Soph. He should have same knockdown power as Demeco brings this yr. to the team. He'd still rather have a running start he says like Demeco enjoys, but I tell him it is more impressive to do it from a 1 or 2 step position.
